Packing for a Day of Thrills: Your Ultimate Theme Park Checklist

Travel blogger

Embarking on a day of excitement at a theme park promises thrills, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime. To ensure you make the most of your visit, it's crucial to pack smart and be prepared for any adventure that comes your way. Here's your ultimate guide on what to pack for a day at a theme park:

Its all about the outfit:

Wear Comfortable Clothing:

  • Choose breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics to stay cool and comfortable throughout the day. If your thighs rub, don't wear short, shorts.

  • Opt for layers that can be easily removed or added as the temperature changes.

  • Wear well-broken-in, comfortable sneakers or walking shoes. Avoid new or untested footwear.

What is in my bag:

I bring a small single shoulder bag or fanny pack. This fits in lockers or on rides easily, and is comfortable to carry all day. This is the bag I have used and it was perfect. Check it out HERE. Its cheap and carries everything I need.

1. Sun Protection:

  • Sunscreen with a high SPF to protect against UV rays.

  • Sunglasses to protect your eyes.

2. Hydration and Snacks:

  • Carry a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. I love this collapsable water bottle, it folds up nicely in my small backpack.

  • Pack small, energy-boosting snacks like granola bars, nuts, and dried fruits

3. Portable Phone Charger:

  • Ensure your phone stays charged to capture memories, navigate the park, and stay in touch with your group. A lot of parks require reservations to be made on your phone and even the park map is on the app. My phone dies quickly after all that, and the phone charger is a MUST! I take a lot of photos and before my last vacation to Universal Studios, I purchased this magnetic phone charger, definitely a game changer. No cords, quick charge, and it was easy to take on & off when needed.

4. Essential Documents:

  • Tickets, IDs, and any necessary passes for entry into the park. Most of this can be found on your phone in the park app. (Another reason why you need a portable charger.)

5. Poncho or Rain Jacket:

  • Be prepared for unexpected rain showers by packing a lightweight, compact rain jacket or poncho, especially if you are visiting a Florida Park. Check the weather the day you go.

9. Personal Care Items:

  • Hand sanitizer, wet wipes, and tissues for staying clean and refreshed.

10. First Aid Kit:

  • Basic supplies like band-aids, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any necessary personal medications. I bring Peppermint essential oil, it helps with the dizzy and nausea after we feel sick on some of the rides.

11. Ziplock Bags or Waterproof Pouches:

  • Keep your phone, money, and important documents protected from water rides or unexpected rain.

12. Park Map and Guidebook:

  • Even with smartphones, having a physical map can be incredibly helpful for navigation, also it gives you something fun to look at while standing in line.
